  57. Welcome to version 1.20b of TGB PC GradeBook.  TGB was designed to be
  58. very easy to use.  You can run TGB from a hard drive or from a floppy
  59. disk.  Make an exact copy of the original disk before proceeding.  Use
  60. the copy for your computing.  To install type: INSTALL  To run type: TGB
  61. The complete manual is in a file named TGB.TXT, you can print this file
  62. or view it with your favoriate file viewer.  TGB was designed to be the
  63. easiest gradebook program you have ever seen, it was designed by a
  64. teacher for teachers.  Take a few moments to try the program, you'll be
  65. glad you did.  TGB is fully mousable, has pull down menus, very
  66. extensive on line help, a report generator, built in backup, each class
  67. can have a different grading scale, weighted or average grades, more...
  68. This version contains some of the most asked for new features..

  70. TGB is a shareware program.  This evaluation version includes all
  71. features of the program, and is not crippled in any way.  You may
  72. use it for up to 30 days, without charge (see TGB.TXT for more details).

  74. evaluation period, you are required to pay for the program (see
  75. ORDER.TXT for more details).  Any fee you may have paid to others
  76. (disk vendors, dealers, etc.) to obtain this evaluation version was a

  117. ===== Installation =====================================

  119. The installation procedure for TGB is quite simple.  The
  120. package includes a program, "INSTALL.EXE", which automates the
  121. entire process.  You will need about 300K of available disk space
  122. on the hard drive on which you plan to install TGB.
  123.  
  124. The exact steps you need to take will depend on how you received
  125. TGB.
  126.

  128. INSTALLING FROM DISKETTES
  129.  
  130. To install from diskette(s), you need to perform the following steps.
  131.  
  132.    o  Place TGB distribution diskette "Disk 1" in the
  133.       appropriate diskette drive.
  134.  
  135.    o  Execute the "INSTALL.EXE" program on the distribution diskette.
  136.       For example, if the distribution diskette is on drive A:, type
  137.       the MS-DOS command, "a:install".
  138.  
  139.    o  Follow the instructions presented by the installation program.
  140.       You will have a chance to approve installation before any changes
  141.       are actually made to the contents of your hard drive.  The
  142.       program will ask you for a destination directory, and will copy
  143.       the TGB files to that directory.  If you so direct it, the
  144.       installation program will install executable programs and
  145.       documentation in other directories of your choice.  It will make
  146.       no other changes; specifically, it will not modify your
  147.       autoexec.bat or config.sys files.

  150. INSTALLING FROM A HARD DRIVE
  151.  
  152. If you downloaded TGB from a BBS (or received it in the form of
  153. archive files from some other source), you will need to perform the
  154. following steps.
  155.  
  156.    o  Extract the contents of the archive file(s) in a temporary
  157.       directory on your hard drive.  The procedure for doing this
  158.       varies, depending on the form in which you received the package.
  159.       In all likelihood, the fact that you are reading this text means
  160.       that you already have the necessary tools and knowledge to
  161.       perform this step.  If not, you should be able to obtain
  162.       directions for this from the same source from which you received
  163.       the package.
  164.  
  165.    o  Execute the "INSTALL.EXE" program which you have extracted.  For
  166.       example, if the temporary directory into which you have extracted
  167.       the TGB package is C:\TEMPDIR, you would execute the MS-DOS

  189. "Getting Started" section of the file "TGB.TXT".  That document will
