AIMS Contact Management System v2.1
README.TXT Document
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This will provide a quick introduction to the AIMS system.
Quick Start Guide
-----------------
When you first start the AIMS program, you will be presented with a
screen divided into two parts. The top half of the screen contains the
current contact information, including name, address, phone numbers and
other contact information. The bottom half of the screen is the contact
list. The first contact in the list will be highlighted with a grey
bar. This is the highlight bar. The contact displayed under this bar
is the contact that is is displayed on the top half of the screen.
You can move the highlight bar using various different keys. The up and
down keys will move the bar one record at a time. The pageup and
pagedown keys will move one page up or down. One page is about 11
contacts. If you hold the control (CTRL) key down when you press the
pageup and pagedown keys, you will move to the top and bottom of the
database respectively.
You can also use the letter keys to search the database for a matching
name. Type S-M-I-T-H will search the database for the first name that
matches the letters you have typed. It will search as eash new letter
is pressed, eventually finding the name you are looking for.
Just about everything you can do with the AIMS program is located on the
menu. You can access the menu by pressing the / key, or by pressing the
ALT key plus the highlighted letter from the menu item (ALT-C for the
contacts menu).
Once you have found the contact to work with, you can press the ENTER
key to bring up a contact record. To insert a new contact, you would
press the INSERT key. Both of these options are available from the
menu.
Once you have pulled up a client record, you can move through the fields
using the up and down arrow keys. The right and left arrow keys will
move the cursor within the field itself, allowing you to change the text
already in there.
In the special fields section, there are additional screens that can be
pulled up. Move the field highlight over the field (using the up and
down arrow keys) and press the ENTER key. The new screen will be pulled
up. You can then press the INSERT key to add a new record, the ENTER
key to edit the record and the DEL key to delete the record. Press the
ESC key to return to the contact screen.
To exit the screen with or without saving, press the ESC key. This will
ask you if you wish to save your changes or not. If you didn't make any
changes, you will not be asked this question.
This should be enough information to get you up and running with the
AIMS program. If you require more information, you can look in the
AIMS.DOC file or the on-line help, which is available by pressing the F1
key.
If the information you need is not in there, you can send email to:
adeptus@mbnet.mb.ca or 75541,2407@compuserve.com
Unfortunately, we are unable to offer telephone support to unregsitered
users, although registration does include 60 days of free telephone
support (although we're happy to answer the occasional question after
the 60 days have apssed), unlimited email support and free program
updates.
Thank you for trying the AIMS Contact Management System.
