wanted information regarding the Foray PPP Server.
Product Description
===================
This distribution contains a 1-port full featured evaluation copy
of the Foray PPP Server. The Foray PPP Server is a DOS based
server that supports remote access using the IP and IPX protocol
families. Remote workstations can dial in over standard telephone
links using high performance modems. The Foray server answers the
phone, authenticates the user and attaches the remote workstation
to the LAN. Subject to security constraints, the remote user can
then access all LAN-based resources, including SQL servers, file
servers, Web servers and gateways.
While this evaluation version only enables 1 port, Foray PPP
Servers are available for a broad range of connectivity needs.
TechSmith offers a four port server using an economical 4 port
buffered serial card. The intelligent communication board version
can support configurations of 8, 16, 24 or 32 sessions per server
using a DigiBoard.
To connect to the PPP server, the workstation needs appropriate
software. Tested packages include (but are not limited to)
Windows 95, Windows NT, WinSock PPP packages and PPP clients.
Workstation software is not part of the Foray PPP Server product
but is available from both TechSmith and many other sources.
Evaluation Restrictions
=======================
Your evaluation copy of the Foray PPP Server is restricted to a
single communications port. The server also has a timed performance
inhibiting restriction. After the server has been running for two
hours, it will disconnect the active user and reinitialize itself.
After reinitialization, the baud rate will be restricted to 9600
baud and header compression for IP and IPX traffic will be disabled.
Entry of a TechSmith generated software registration key will
permanently disable these restrictions.
