UNCONSCIOUSNESS
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Unconsciousness is a sign of a serious illness or injury.
Symptoms: drowsy and disoriented, incoherent when roused, unresponsive and
unaware of surroundings.
As with all serious injuries:
Check and maintain an open airway, restore breathing and circulation
If you know the cause, give first aid for the cause.
Immediate Treatment:
1. Maintain an open airway
2. Loosen tight clothing
3. Keep the victim lying down
4. If the cause is unknown, do not move the victim
5. If the cause is known, and a head, neck or back injury is not suspected,
place the victim on his side to prevent choking.
6. Check for possible cause of unconsciousness & keep the victim warm
7. If not fully recovered in 5 minutes, call for help.
