  17.      America's pharmaceutical research companies are currently developing 37
  18. medicines for the prevention or treatment of breast cancer, according to a new
  19. publication released by the Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Association (PMA).
  20. The 20 page publication, titled "Pharmaceutical Frontiers:  Research on Breast
  21. Cancer" is the second in the PMA's "Pharmaceutical Frontiers" series.
  22.      Of the 37 medicines being developed, involving 19 companies and the
  23. National Cancer Institute, 24 are being developed to inhibit or suppress tumor
  24. growth, 8 are to destroy cancer cells in the breast and 2 are to cause a
  25. reduction in the extent of the tumor.
  26.      The publication also contains statistics about breast cancer and patient
  27. support information provided by the American Cancer Society, The National
  28. Cancer Institute, CancerCare, and the National Alliance of Breast Cancer
