A Resource About Separation and Divorce
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I know of very few people whose lives have not been touched by the pain
of divorce. The deep emotional consequences not only affect the two
principals in the action, but family, friends, and even more distant members
of the community. There are some experts that say that the rate of divorce
may rise to as many as 1 for every 2 marriages, as the pressures of a changing
society rip at marital ties. Though most of these divorces occur in people
under 35, the number is on the rise for those who have already passed that
mark. The booklet "Coping with Separation and Divorce" is available without
charge by sending a stamped self-addressed business sized envelope to the
National Mental Health Association, 1021 Prince Street, Alexandria, VA
22314-2971. Older folks might be particularly interested in the booklet
offered by the American Association of Retired Persons (AARP) whose booklet
"Divorce after 50" can be obtained by sending your request to AARP, 601 E
Street, #B5212, Washington, DC 20049. Both these booklets contain suggestions
of help to all.
