A Resource About Cirrhosis
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
For reasons that I don't understand, my mail has been filled with
questions about liver cirrhosis these days. While it is not infrequent to
find exactly three questions about a rare disease in a single bag of mail,
this concern about the liver far exceeds that number. And so as any good
physician should, I located an appropriate brochure for all those concerned,
and some of you who may just be interested. My resource for such material is
the American Liver Foundation, the only national voluntary agency dedicated to
attacking liver diseases, the third leading disease-related cause of death in
the 25-59 age group. They have prepared a most informative brochure about
cirrhosis that contains the answers to many of your questions. With sections
on the prevention, the complications and the treatment of cirrhosis, this
publication may be complete enough for you, or perhaps just the beginning of
your study, if you need more precise information. You may obtain your free
copy, by sending your request and a stamped, self addressed, envelope to
"Cirrhosis", The American Liver Foundation, Cedar Grove, New Jersey 07009. You
will be well rewarded.
