- Did you know that whole wheat spaghetti contains four times as much fiber
- as whole regular spaghetti? By including fiber-rich foods such as whole grain
- products in your daily diet, you may reduce your cancer risk. More than
- one-third all cancer deaths may be related to what we eat. Recent
- international studies of different population groups strongly suggest a direct
- link between dietary intake of fat and cancers of the breast, colon and
- prostate. A growing body of scientific evidence suggests that increasing
- dietary fiber intake and reducing intake of fat may reduce the risk of several
- common cancers. To help individuals choose a diet that promotes good health
- and may reduce the risk of cancer, The National Cancer Institute (NCI) is
- offering a free booklet called "Diet, Nutrition and Cancer Prevention: The
- Good News". It is 15 pages long, in full color and provides practical advice
- for making gradual changes in planning, cooking, and eating habits to promote
- long-term change. You may obtain your free copy by sending your request,
- naming the booklet, DIRECTLY from The Office of Cancer Communications,
- National Cancer Institute, Building 31, Room 10A24, Bethesda, Maryland 20892.
