[About The Guide]
!Short: Short Entries
When popping up the Text Display Window you are presented with a list
of short entries to chose from.
To define the following word "Chopin" as a short entry:
We would add the bang command !short: to the previous line:
!short: Chopin
The !short: command tells the Database Composer that the rest of the
line defines a short entry. The exclamation point precedes the word
short and must be typed in column 1. !short: is known as a bang command.
Bang commands are simply instructions to the Database Composer. All
bang commands are preceded with an exclamation point.
Note:
The column position at which you type the short entry text is
not critical. Text can be typed anywhere on the line after the
!short: command. The data file you are creating should be stan-
dard ASCII (no embedded format commands or control characters,
such as form feeds). Such characters won't harm anything (the
Database Composer lets you include any standard or extended
ASCII character in the text of a database), they will simply
appear as a bunch of smiley faces, playing cards, and other
assorted symbols.
Let's define two more short entries:
!short: Chopin
!short: Bach
!short: Mozart
Press the Gray + key to proceed to the next topic (long entry).
