ASETUP
A fast, effective and free installation and a setup development
kit for Windows. The ideal companion to ThinHelp �s license key
copy protection technology. It�s the least expensive,
least-disk-and -archive-space method for developing quality
installation packages for disk-based or downloadable
distribution. ASETUP includes multilingual German/ English
/French support, its own LZH decompression scheme, the ability
to create self -starting .EXE installation packages,
compatibility with Windows 95, bitmap splashes, definition of
custom dialog boxes, access to AUTOEXEC.BAT and CONFIG.SYS as
well as WIN.INI and SYSTEM.INI, and -- a must for Windows 95
distributables -- access to the Windows registry. All this with
as little as 35k of overhead in a compressed archive.

This program is an "off the shelf" installation package for
Windows programs. It can be used to install Windows packages of
almost any size (up to 64 installation disks). The files may be
compressed (with MS COMPRESS.EXE) or uncompressed. Both types
of file are handled transparently. ZIP archives are also
supported, as is splitting large files into smaller parts so
they can fit on a floppy disk. There is also a built-in
compression engine, using LZSS (LZ77) compression.

displays a readme.txt file after extraction and optionally
starts the installed program. The parameters for each SFX file
made are stored in a data file so that remakes are just a case
of choosing the program name from a list. Any directory sub
structure can be packed.

Patch Creator
The Patch Creation utility allows you to create self-contained
and (optionally) compressed patches for files already on the
end-user�s machine. You can use it, for example, to update
registered users of your software. Only registered users will
be able to use the patches created using this program since the
files on the machine are used to create the updated version.
Other patch programs use a command line interface rather than a
GUI and are not very user-friendly.

The Self Extracting Setup Wizard
The Wizard uses a very small stub file as the starting point
for the final file and concatenates the files you select to the
end. This stub file was written in Visual C++ as an SDK program
and compiled with full optimization to make it very small and
very efficient. When the user runs it, it creates a temporary
directory and extracts your setup files there. It executes the
file you selected when you created the file, waits for it
complete, then deletes the files it extracted and removes the
directory. The Wizard is fully compatible with Windows 95,
Windows 3.1, and Windows NT. It doesn't matter if your install
is intended for 16-bit or 32-bit systems or which setup tool
kit you use, whether it's Visual Basic's Application Setup
Wizard, Visual C++'s Install Shield SDK Edition, Sax's Setup
Wizard Foundation Edition, or one you've created yourself.
