This 4-day class approaches character animation much like building a marionette -- except the marionettes controls and strings are digital.
In this course you will learn how to develop skeletal and muscular controls for a character. By the end of the course, you will have the functional knowledge and skills to build and operate a complex hierarchy of joints and deformers applied to a character-based model.
You will learn how to create the 'strings' as well as how, what, and when to tweak them when animating. The course will also examine secondary motion, facial deformation and lip synching.
The Character Animation in Maya course explores the set-up and animation of Melvin, providing a vehicle for exploring skeletal and muscular controls that will be flexible enough so that he can be animated to act like an energetic young boy.
