Mozilla Firefox 1.0.1
If you're still using Internet Explorer as your default Web browser,
our advice is to switch - now. Neglected by Microsoft, it's outdated
but worst of all, it's a security nightmare. In her regular Internet
column, Rose Vines recommends Firefox, the latest free browser coming
out of the thriving Mozilla open source software project. It's slim
and smart but has all you need from a modern browser: tabbed browsing,
advertising pop-up blocking, clever blog support and more. You can
even expand Firefox's range of features by downloading extensions.
Most importantly, Firefox displays almost all Web pages quickly
and elegantly, but blocks ActiveX controls - one of the primary
sources of spyware infestation.
