Final Release Versions

All previously released versions of DynamIP (v2.x) relied heavily on the Microsoft Internet Control Pack [MS ICP]. While beta versions of those controls were free, NetManage is currently charging a steep $500.-- for the final release version (a big "no thanks" to both Microsoft and NetManage for this attempt to gouge developers). In order to keep DynamIP Freeware, I decided to write my own ActiveX control. While the first versions had their problems, the current version is IMHO quite stable. Hence, I pulled the plug on old DynamIP versions because I don't have the resources to support DynamIP v2.x and the buggy MS ICP while I'm working on new versions of DynamIP. I therefore urge you to try the all new DynamIP v3.0 even though it's still in beta (it's reasonably stable...).

Beta Versions

Documentation is not complete yet and you're definitely installing this beta version at your own risk. Please read the included file Readme.txt for additional information before you install DynamIP. The DynamIP web pages, however, are fully updated and reflect all the changes and new features available in DynamIP v3.0. Please do not report bugs which are already listed under "Unresolved Problems". Direct all other problem reports to cmu@bigfoot.com.

Please READ the included file Readme.txt for additional information BEFORE you install DynamIP. Detailed installation instructions are here!
  • Full Install
    DynamIPv3RC1.zip (Version 3.0 RC1) [released 04/18/97]
  • Quick Upgrade
(There is no quick upgrade to RC1 because lots of files have changed with VB5)

You can also get the file from any of the following mirrors:

Bugs in current beta and related problems
- NTP Server tick.usno.navy.mil does not work anymore. You can use ntp.cc.utexas.edu or any other public server listed here or here.
- Error loading from file: make sure that you followed the instructions in Readme.txt when you installed this beta (e.g. you must make sure that you've got version 2.60 of the control cmuTCP.ocx on your system!)
- Conflict with HotDogPro [see solution here]
- STxUNST.00x not found prevents automatic installation of DynamIPv3bx on some systems. Use RegClean v4.1 to clean up your registry and then try again.
- Async upload results in all CAP filename on FTP server (uncheck Async upload in Setup|Uploader). If you like the Async feature, you will have to stick to all CAP directory/file names until MS fixes the FTP control. This is annoying, but there's really not much I can do about this. Sorry.

Help file
Help is available in form of HTML pages. The file help.EXE should have been copied to the DynamIP installation directory (it's self-expanding ZIP file).
