far as their evolution. Now we're calling our own shots, making our own decisions, having children and living a full life, maybe a little too fast, but we're doing it. For me it has really been a great blessing. It has allowed me to have a face and a name and an image that people identify with positively. That allows me to share a lot of strength as a black woman, a lot of self-dignity, self-respect, just an overall joy and happiness to be considered a role model and wanting to share good advice and just give out totally good vibes. It has also been extremely lucrative. RR: Lets talk about lucrative for a minute. It seems to me that in America for many, many years now, sports figures, actors and entertainers have been able to call the shots in terms of the kind of dollars they make and the way they impact on the economic scale of their particular industry. Models for a long time were sort of left behind, they were the step children of the entertainment industry. It seems like in the last few years when the idea of supermodels really took hold, it also brought forth the idea of economic enpowerment. Let's look at it from its face value. You're dealing with luxury items, dealing with high ticket items, and making a lot of money for very few people. You should be compensated on some scale comparable to sports figures, entertainers and actors and such. Do you feel in some ways that has gotten out of hand, or do you think it's perfectly reasonable? Roshumba: On the economic scale, I think it's pretty reasonable, simply because our images sell. I know that if my image is tested on the market with a product, I have an extremely high Q rating. That means that when people see me, they associate me with the product that I sell. I don't sell in small numbers. I sell in large quantities, multimillions of dollars, and if my time, my energy and my image is put forth in a positive intelligent way, which it always is, and the money received by the company or the product that I'm representing Page 4 of 10
