The Browse tab provides controls for loading a DarkTree.

Browse - Clicking this button brings up a file requester that lets you browse to and load a DarkTree file. The extension of a DarkTree file will be .dsts (shaded), .dstc (color), .dstp (percent), or .dstb (bump). In most cases, you will want to load either a .dsts or a .dstc file. A .dsts file contains a fully-shaded material while a .dstc file usually contains a Primitive Texture. Once a file is loaded, its name will appear on the button.  A description of the material is shown below.

If SimbiontTS is not selected in all four shader channels, a modal dialog asks whether you want to load the DarkTree into the unselected channels as well. Yes causes SimbiontTS to be selected in the unselected channels, and loads the DarkTree into Color, Bump, Transparency, and Reflectance. The default button No loads the DarkTree into only the currently selected channels.

NOTE: Do NOT select Yes when loading a DarkTree into a layered material.  Instead, manually select SimbiontTS for the desired shader channels. Transparency is available only for the base layer.

If the DarkTree to be loaded is not fully-shaded, that is, it is a single-type DarkTree (color, percent, or bump), and SimbiontTS is selected for Reflectance, then the above alert appears.  A primitive texture is automatically interpreted for whatever shader channels it is loaded into except for Reflectance. In this case, SimbiontTS uses default DarkTree reflectance shading settings.

Edit - Clicking this button will bring up a DarkTree editor for the current material or an empty editor if the DarkTree file can't be found.  Please note that this button is only enabled for DarkTree 2 users and only when a DarkTree is currently loaded.  Make your changes, then resave the DarkTree. The material will update automatically in trueSpace's Material Editor.

New - Clicking this button will bring up an empty DarkTree editor.  Please note that this button is only enabled for DarkTree 2 users.  Design a new texture, then save the DarkTree. The new material will automatically be loaded in trueSpace's Material Editor for all shader channels that SimbiontTS is selected.

Help - If the current DarkTree has a help file associated with it, the Help button will be enabled. Clicking this button will open the help file.
