Radial_Twist

RADIAL TWIST rotates a linked texture about the Z axis.  RADIAL TWIST deforms in two dimensions.

How Does It Work?

The Distortion parameter, which is linkable only, sets the amount of the distortion as a percent of the maximum. The value given Scale Factor represents the maximum distortion possible. To define a profile for the distortion, link this parameter to one of the generators. The generator will define the amount of the distortion from the center out. If you don't link Distortion, the distortion profile will be linear.

Hints!

Because this is a rotation, the distortion will increase as the distance from the origin increases. An inverted Bias generator linked to the Distortion parameter can counteract this, if you make sure the generator's repeat flag is off.

You can get some especially nice effects using this component. Try linking a Noise or Natural component to the Distortion parameter. Figure1 below shows an example of hooking a Clouds component to the Distortion parameter to get a nebula looking texture.

Common Parameters

Distortion

This amount of twisting relative to (as a percent of) the maximum (given by Scale Factor).

Scale Factor

Supplies the maximum amount of distortion. A positive number means a clockwise rotation; a negative number will reverse the direction.
