How Does It Work?
MINIMUM combines two textures by taking the minimum value of the two. For color MINIMUM components, the minimum of the red, green, and blue color values are taken separately.
Percent and bump MINIMUM components simply take the minimum of the two texture values.
Use Thickness A and Thickness B to soften the transition between textures. Set both Thicknesses to 100% to get an absolute minimum.
Although the color and percent MINIMUM components are perfectly functional, the best use of MINIMUM is to combine bump components. For example, MINIMUM can be used to cut grooves out
of another texture, given the right bump scale factors. Use Minimum Switch to get a color or percent
texture that matches the results of theMINIMUM of two bump textures.
Hints!
A very powerful use of bump MINIMUM is to link only one of the parameters to a child bump texture
and manually adjust the other parameter to slice off the top of the bump texture. This is particularly good for creating a smooth surface with some pitting here and there. Link one of the bump MINIMUM
parameters to a Fractal noise texture and adjust the other MINIMUM bump parameter until you have the level of pitting you want.
