Agate

Looks like an agate stone or wood grain.

How Does It Work?

This component creates grains that resemble wood or agate stone. The grains vary between the Low and High values. Increasing the Roughness increases the density of the grains, which makes them thinner.  Using the Strata_Function and Blend_Function will give a much wider variety of grains.

Hints!

Roughness is a sensitive parameter that is closely tied to image size. As the Roughness increases, you might have to zoom in to see the added detail (or render the image larger).  This texture is very detailed and so will cause aliasing problems easily especially for bump.  Using a small Bump Scale will help with anti-aliasing.

Common Parameters

Input Seed

The seed for the random number generator that is used to create the texture.

Roughness

The roughness or detail level of the pattern.

Brightness

The brightness level of the pattern. Higher values move the color toward High.

Contrast

The contrast or sharpness between the Low and High values.

Strata Function

Blending control applied the the fractal layers of the pattern.

Blend Function

Blending control between Low and High.

Color Component Parameters

Low

The low color value of the Agate gradient.

High

The high color value of the Agate gradient.

Percent Component Parameters

Low

The low percent value of the Agate gradient.

High

The high percent value of the Agate gradient.

Bump Component Parameters

Low

The low bump value of the Agate gradient.

High

The high bump value of the Agate gradient.

Bump Scale

A scaling factor for the bump values.
