Can I import .swf or animated .gif files into SWiSHmax?
Yes. Use the Insert | Content command and select the .swf or animated .gif file you want to import. Then select the Frames you wish to import and whether you want to import as a Sprite or as a Group of Frames (usually one would choose to import as a Sprite). Alternatively, you can simply drag and drop files from Windows Explorer onto SWiSHmax
to import them.

Why aren't all actions, masks or sounds in my .swf import into SWiSHmax
?
When importing a Flash Animation (*.swf) file, SWiSHmax
does not import any sounds, morph shapes, external video streams or Flash clip events. Clipping (mask) layers are imported, but are not automatically set as a mask object in SWiSHmax. Not all actions available in Flash can be imported, for a full list of the actions supported see File | Import.

Why do I see a lot of Keyframes when I import a .swf into SWiSHmax
?
This is a limitation of the .swf format. It is not due to a problem with either SWiSH or Flash. SWF files only hold Frame information. They do not contain information about Scenes, Effects or tweening. When imported into Flash, Flash is not able to reconstruct tweening and layering. Read this Technote from Macromedia.

Why doesn't SWiSHmax
import Flash (.fla) files?
FLA is a closed format. Macromedia has only published the specifications for .swf (the Flash Player format) not .fla, therefore, only Macromedia can read and write .fla files.

Why doesn't SWiSHmax
import Live Motion (.liv) files?
LIV is a closed format. Adobe has not published the specifications for .liv, therefore, only Adobe can read and write .liv files.
