Links redirect the browser to a different page or perform other actions when the web site visitor clicks on the element or when automatic forwarding is defined.
StudioLine also offers a variety of generic links (such as ôHomeö or ôNextö). The actual address of a generic link is determined or updated automatically, at the time the site is published.
Link to Page or Site |
Creates a link to any other page maintained by StudioLine. Use the ôBrowseö button to choose the target site or page. Use the ôCreate New Pageö button, if the target page does not yet exist. It will create and link to a new page in the current site. If the target page has been excluded from publishing, then it will be treated as if ôNo Linkö was chosen. |
Navigation Link |
These generic links are used for pages in a subfolder and on Layouts with Page Views. They allow a web site visitor to browse forward and backward between the elements of the same folder or page views, to loop from the last element back to the first element (and vice versa), to return back to the main page or index level, or display the siteÆs home page. Not every navigation button applies to all pages (e.g., from the top level, one cannot move "up" any further). Non-applicable buttons will be inactive and can be rendered with a transparency factor. If the site settings donÆt define a home page, then any navigation links to home will be set to ôno linkö until a home page is defined. |
Link to URL |
Creates a link to pages at other sites or to other resources. Sample URLs
Web Site http://www.StudioLine.net/
FTP Site ftp://ftp.hm-software.com/
Newsgroup news://News.HM-Software.com/HM.Public.Support
StudioLine does not verify or monitor the validity of external links. The user should check these links from time to time to make certain that they are still valid. |
Link to Image View |
This generic link is used for layouts with image views. It links to the (automatically generated) more detailed image view for this object. |
Link to Target Position |
Creates a link to a predefined location or a labeled element on a page maintained by StudioLine. It will cause the browser to open the page and then scroll the content until the location or element is visible. If possible, drag the Drop button on an object on the target page. This will set the page and target position. Use the Target Position button to manually set the position on the target page. |
Action Link |
Can be used to control browser actions, such as stopping or closing the browser, printing the page, or access to the browser's history stack and ôFavoritesö list. |
No Link |
Removes any links. |
Email Link |
This link will open the visitorÆs email application. Enter a recipient email address and a subject. |
Link to Local File |
Select a file on your disks that will be published to the specified URL on the server. This option is helpful for non-standard file formats that are either to be downloaded by visitors or that may require a browser plug-in. |
Open New Browser Window |
Normally pages appear in the same browser window. Under "Options", leave the name blank to cause the linked page to appear in a new window each time. Reuse the same name for any number of links and they will share the one window by that name. The effect of the advanced options may differ between browsers. Netscape defines the window size as the browseable area, only. Internet Explorer also includes the window frame, title bar and other control elements. |
