The Textile Conservation Laboratory was set up in 1983 in order to
conserve and preserve textiles from the Museum's Coptic, Islamic, Byzantine and Folk Art
collections.
With the participation in the European programme "Tissus"
(Market Place for Textile Images and Patterns) the laboratory focused on the research,
conservation and photographic documentation of the Coptic textile collection. A bilingual
catalogue of the whole Copric textile collection and the results of this project will be
published in the near future.
