Who We Are

Kappa Beta is a chapter of The Society for the Second Self (Tri-Ess)
spacer We are a support group for Heterosexual Crossdressers and their Family Members. We're centrally located in Charlotte, North Carolina. For over a decade we've been working with Crossdressers and their spouses in North and South Carolina, Virginia and surrounding states.

What We Do

spacerKappa Beta is not a support group in the traditional sense. Traditional support groups attempt to cure their members of some illness, or support them through it. Crossdressing is not an illness. Many crossdressers believe they were born that way. Because we do not think our members are sick, Kappa Beta is not designed to "cure" a crossdresser of her desire to crossdress.
A Typical Kappa Beta dinner meeting spacer Instead, we try to provide a safe, fun place where you can dress and socialize with people who share your unique interests.
spacer spacerKappa Beta isn't for everybody; no one group can be all things to all people. Those who have come to us seeking a cure have gone away disapointed.
Kappa Beta has been called a bigger closet by some. This can be true for those who are looking for a bigger closet. Others use the group as a kind of half-way house, a safe place where they can learn and explore their own natures in comfortable increments.
spacer Some Kappa Beta members have used the group as a stepping stone to bigger things while others are content to remain in their bigger closets. Some move though the group fairly rapidly while others move more cautiously.
spacerWe place no pressure on members to meet a particular standard or goal. The group is here for you to use as you see fit.

spacer We'd like to direct you to our page about Joining Kappa Beta , but we understand that contacting someone about something which you have kept hidden from the world for so long is a tremendously big step. We know because we've been there ourselves. We want you to know that you don't have to feel that you are alone in the world.
spacer You probably have more questions you would like to have answered before you proceed. Check out our Frequently Asked Questions page. You might also enjoy reading several articles written by some of our members describing their feelings at their first Kappa Beta meeting, to gain an impression of what you can expect. You'll find them included on our Correspondence pages.
