Use this page to set the file format of the capture file as well as the automatic tape control features.

AVI File Type

Capture outputs Type-2 DV format files, using the AVI 1.0 or 2.0 specifications.

AVI 1.0 files store the DV data in a format compatible with all programs that support Video For Windows (VFW), provided they have a suitable DV decoder installed. AVI 1.0 files are limited to a maximum size of 4 GB which is equivalent to 18 minutes of movie.

AVI 2.0 files allow you to store over 4 GB of movie in a single file. AVI 2.0 files are not compatible with programs which only support the Video For Windows standard.

Automatically Start / Stop DV Device When Capturing

Checking this option will allow Capture to automatically control your DV recorder or camcorder during the capture process. Most modern Firewire cards support this feature, however you may turn it off if you want manual control.

Mute Audio From DV Device

Check this option if you want Capture to silence audio during seeking operations. Some camcorder emit a high pitched noise otherwise.
