The Rockford Files Homepage

Here are a few books available on The Rockford Files:

Martindale, David. The Rockford Phile (subtitle: Behind-The-Scenes,
The Unofficial Casebook of The Rockford Files). Copyright 1991,
Pioneer Books, Inc. 5715 N. Balsam Rd., Las Vegas, NV 89130.
        ISBN 1-55698-288-7. $14.95 US, $19.95 Canada.

It's a neat book - history, background, and bios - with a listing of the
episodes, including credits and brief synopses, and a couple treatments
that never made it.

Oddly, Garner is *not* credited in the acknowledgements, which *do* include
Stephen J. Cannell, Roy Huggins, Meta Rosenberg, Stuart Margolin, and
Joe Santos. There is also a weird disclaimer about being a scholarly work
and how the use of photos is not intended as a copyright infringement.

Here's some information on This is Jim Rockford, a new Rockford book available.

My name is Ed Robertson, and I'd like to let all fans of The Rockford Files
to know about a book I've written on the show -- "This is Jim
Rockford...," a behind-the-scenes look at the 20-year history of Rockford. I
was fortunate to interview many of the key people who brought us The
Rockford Files, including James Garner, Stephen J. Cannell, Roy Huggins,
Gretchen Corbett, and Juanita Bartlett, all of whom shared many insights
and anecdotes about the making of the show. There's an episode guide; a
year-by-year summary; a look at the legal battles of the '80s; the return
of Rockford to prime time in '94; facts and fun items for every episode of
the show; the phone messages; and much, much more.
The book is published by Pomegranate Press, and is available in
bookstores across the country starting this week. You can also order it
through the mail ($19.95, plus $3.00 postage/handling) by writing Pomegranate
Press, P.O. Box 17210, Beverly Hills CA 90210.
If you've like more info, or if you'd just like to talk Rockford,
drop me a line (McRoWr@aol.com).

If you're into the theme song, here's a tape you might enjoy:
"Mike Post Rockford Files"
Polydor #841 252-4

It contains the classic opening theme and other cool "Rockford-like"
instrumentals - some of which were also used as theme music during the
series.
