A movement for holidays in the sun

Brian Walden in the Sunday Times suggested that 'every voluntary body dealing with the aged, every trade union in the land and every local authority, should make a winter in the sun for the elderly a priority item on its agenda.

'All that is needed is some cooperation between different agencies to coordinate the exodus. Its administrative costs would be offset by savings elsewhere. Who knows, we might find that it paid to build facilities abroad and staff them for so worthwhile a purpose.'
