Dental floss as sewing thread

From a letter by Penelope Jane of London in TNT Issue 592, monitored for the Institute by Yvonne Ackroyd.

I discovered two good uses of dental floss when travelling:

- To clean your teeth when you cannot brush them.
- To sew your backpack up when it starts to fall apart. It is much stronger than cotton and is easy to thread and sew with.

[Ed: A prisoner recently used dental floss bought in quantity from the prison shop and twined together as a rope to escape with.]
