Free transmitter alarms for battered women

Based on an item in Time magazine (July 6th "92) monitored for the Institute by Roger Knights.

ADT Security Systems of Tampa, USA, is offering panic button pendants to battered city women as part of a pilot programme. Pressing the panic button within two hundred feet of the home relays a signal through the telephone line to ADT, who in turn notify the police. To be eligble for the test programme, the woman must agree in advance to rpess charges if the assailant is caught.
