Acorn User 200th Issue Cover CD-ROM

A warm welcome to you from the Acorn User team

This fourth cover CD-ROM accompanies our 200th issue, and nearly 16 years of Acorn User magazine itself. To celebrate, this CD contains some rather special and exclusive goodies, such as the new version of the !Boot sequence direct from Acorn! But we wont spoil it any more for you; have a look for yourselves through the use of this HTML interface, crafted at great expense to give you a minimal look and feel, which the simplest web browsers can attempt to display correctly.

These pages work in conjunction with the HyperStudio stack player and accompanying interface to provide you with an easy method of navigating around the CD-ROM, and finding the required files. Included on this CD are several web browsers (including the final version of ArcWeb) which can be used to view the HTML pages, if you are not connected to the web.

If you are viewing this CD-ROM on a PC or Macintosh, then you can use Internet Explorer or Netscape Navigator/Communicator to navigate around the CD. You can then download specific archives and copy them to your Acorn machine, if it does not have a CD-ROM drive.

Note that the archives on this CD-ROM do not have filetype extensions, to prevent files from being accidently opened and trashed by Windows95/98 or Mac OS utilities. Once moved safely across, give them a filetype of DDC, and use either !SparkPlug or !ArcFS (also supplied, archived) to decompress them.

Some of these archives contain long filenames, so to help you unarchive them, you will find copies of LongFiles 2 and X-Files lurking around. Dearchive them and install them to your hard disc before running them. You can then use these special archives direct from the CD. Note that such files cannot be opened on non-Acorn machines, so please accept our apologies for any inconvenience caused.

If you have an Internet connection, you can check out the Acorn User CD-ROM Page here, for all the latest information concerning this disc since it was first published.
