How to configure the web server
Observer Reporting Server has its own web server that it shares with Observer if Observer is installed on the same system as ORS.
The web server starts automatically when the system starts, regardless of how you have ORS configured.
Note: Some web server settings can be changed by choosing Options > Program Settings > Web Server tab.
The Web server will either be installed and run as C:\Windows\system32\niwsd.exe or as C:\Windows\system32\niwsd64.exe depending on whether your operating system is 32-bit or 64-bit.
By default the web server uses port 80. To change the port it uses, follow these steps:
Tip! If the web server stops unexpectedly, the only way to restart it without restarting the entire system is to close ORS if it is running and restart ORS. When ORS restarts, the web server also starts in the background.
1.
2.
Right-click and choose Web Server Settings.
3.
Change the port number, and click OK. The new port number is immediately used.
4.
Open a web browser and enter the following URL: http://ORShost:port/ORS where ORShost is the host name or IP address of the system running ORS and port is the port number.
