How to install Observer Reporting Server

Observer Reporting Server comes pre-installed on a rack mountable appliance. If for some reason you must reinstall the software, you may.

Ensure you have the latest version of Observer Reporting Server before continuing. Download the latest version from our FTP site:ftp://ftp.networkinstruments.com/pub/demos/

Prerequisite(s):

You are using one of these operating systems:

 

Windows XP (32-bit SP3, 64-bit SP2)

Windows Vista (32-bit SP1 or higher, 64-bit SP1 or higher)

Windows 7 (32-bit SP1 or higher, 64-bit SP1 or higher)

Windows Server 2003 Enterprise, Standard, Web (32-bit SP3 or higher, 64-bit SP3 or higher)

Windows Server 2008 Enterprise, Standard, Web (32-bit SP2 or higher, 64-bit SP2 or higher)

Windows Server 2008 R2 Enterprise, Standard, Web (SP1 or higher)

 

To install Observer Reporting Server:

Follow the standard, wizard installation to install/reinstall ORS.

Simply run the executable and follow the prompts.

We recommend backing up your existing installation if applicable.

After completing this task:

You may be prompted to license the application during its first launch. This can happen when performing a clean installation, such as after a hard drive reformat. Provide your credentials if prompted.

While unlikely, if you are missing data sources after reinstalling the application, you must re-add them. For more details, see How to add data sources .
