World Environment Day Submissions

Date: 4/1/1998

URL: http://www.un.org/Pubs/CyberSchoolBus/planet

Info:
The United Nations is compiling an Atlas of Student Action for the Planet (ASAP) as part of its observance of World Environment Day, 5 June 1998. The atlas will contain a list and description of projects carried out by students around the world. The atlas is intended to serve as a point of reference and inspiration. The UN is interested in what schools or community groups are doing to protect the environment. The lessons they have learned, the solutions they have devised, the problems they have encountered, are of interest to other schools and groups around the world, as they might be facing similar problems. Schools and community groups that have carried out environmental projects are invited to send a description of their activities to the ASAP project. Contributions are being collected via the Internet, either by a special e-mail form or a form on the World Wide Web. All contributions will be recognized at an event held at the UN while the most innovative and interesting reports will be selected for inclusion in a printed booklet. The Atlas of Student Action for the Planet is a project of the UN CyberSchoolBus and the Public Liaison Service of the UN Office of Communication and Public Information in conjunction with the United Nations Environment Programme. The CyberSchoolBus is an on-line educational service, offering a wealth of information, activities and teaching resources designed to engage as well as inform. In order to access the submission form on the UN CyberSchoolBus web site, go to: http://www.un.org/Pubs/CyberSchoolBus/planet To receive the form by e-mail, send mail to enviroday@un.org and in the subject field write "form". For a French version of the form write "Form-F" and for a spanish version write "Form-S". Questions about the ASAP project should be addressed to: Hasan Ferdous at inquiries@un.org OR Abouali Farmanfarmaian at globalschoolbus@un.org
