Barney, Dinosaur, Whale or Human?

Dateline: 08/16/97

Scientists have been carefully studying Barney our favorite purple television host. Barney's popularity as a TV star has scientists wondering who and what this roly-poly creature is. Three scientists, two biologists and a mollusk researcher have published a paper titled, The Taxonomy of Barney: Evidence of Convergence in Hominid Evolution. Published in The Annals of Improbable Research, the paper examines Barney's body type in relation to those of whales, dinosaurs, birds and salmon. The scientists have found that Barney is very like a human being, he has warm blood, binocular vision, a mammalian pelvis and two leg segments. He also has a great personality and loves children. X-rays of Barney show he has a human skeleton buried deep inside his body. The scientists belive that Barney's tail and fuzzy body are just camoflage. On the outside Barney resembles a dinosaur, but inside he feels and thinks just like a human being. It can be concluded that Barney is more like a human being than anything else. What do you think? I'd love to hear about it!
