I wish I could control what happens when I click a file icon. Your wish is granted! When you double-click a file icon, the application associated with that icon opens the file. You can also right-click a file icon to select an alternate action from the context menu.   Specify an icon's double-click action. Customize an icon's context menu. Edit the global context menu. Run any application from a file icon. Keep file associations from changing.
