Run any application from a file icon.
To select from all available applications when opening a file:
- Click the icon of the file you want to open to select it.
- Press and hold the Shift key.
- Right-click the icon.
The context menu appears.
- Release the Shift key and select Open With from the menu.
The Open With dialog box appears. - Select the application you want to use to open the file from the scroll box.
- Click OK.
Not all applications can run all file types. If you choose an application that cannot run the type of file you have selected, this procedure will not work.
Also, not all applications can handle long filenames. Even applications that normally work with long filenames may sometimes have problems when you use this procedure.
