I'm looking for a 130W power supply for an original Compaq sewing machine portable that has been hopped up with an Inel Inboard 386 and a Seagate 238R hard drive. Beware, I purchased 2 of the last such power supplies PC Power and Cooling had in stock 4 years ago. The Compaq in question was the first of dozens of computers I have owned. 'Twas upgraded to a hard drive without the requisite beefier power supply, as might still be found in a healthy Compaq Portable Plus.

Tandy TRS-80 model 4 complete, two broken keycaps and probable memory problem. Seems to have good drives and video (green) but either memory or the Z80 processor is kaput, as it comes up with all types of odd garbage at power up.

Someone that needs parts for one would love this. I'm looking to trad it off for an 8 bit soundcard or 1x/2x/4x/etc IDE or SCSI cdrom (you pay the shipping). Should cost about $15 US to ship most places, it seems to weigh about 22 lbs.

Have you got old TRS-80 model 4 manuals, software, magazines or hardware laying around collecting dust? I have 4-5 machines now and looking to add to them so I can eventually sell some of the excess ones after I get a good collection of information and accessories together for mine and the ones for sale. I have plenty of IBM/compatible items to swap or can pay modest amounts for some. Email me with what you have and please make sure to explain it clearly and what you might want for it. I'll also accept free stuff and pay the shipping (who wouldn't??). Don't throw it away or dump it, I can put it to use in my "collection". These items are wanted for personal use, not for resale so please be fair about the asking price. I'm also (possibly) looking to trade a working model 4 for a working model 3, preferably with software and manuals.

Got a Compuadd 325TX laptop in really bad shape. The hinge
for the display is broken, the whole case is really dented
up. It looks like whoever owned it before I got ahold of it
put it through a lot of abuse. The amazing thing, though,
is that it still works. The only problem is that the
fluorescent light bulb for the backlighting on the screen
was cracked at some point or another, and so there is no
backlighting on the screen, which makes it impossible to
use under most conditions. Does anyone have _any_ idea where
to find replacement bulbs for a laptop? The dimensions of the
bulb were approximately 6" long with a diameter of about 1/8".
I have no idea on the voltage. Thanks in advance!

My dad came up with a Tandy TRS 80 model 4 for my neice who has been wanting a p.c. for a long time. It came with no manuals but a few floppys, one was a DOS 3, but none of us really know much about computers and we need HELP. I tried to get the dos to load, it would not. When you turn the thing on it ask for a diskette, I put in the dos floppy and it sounded like it was trying to load and than all of a sudden it just quite, light on the drive went out and everthing. Is there something I need to do to get the dos to load? Is there something that needs to be loaded first?
Is it locking up? what is going on? If any of us had any Idea of how this thing worked we might have a little idea of if it's complete junk, if we might be able to fix it or if we just have no idea how to work it, so please someone HELP

Okay...I'm looking for something using an 80186 or 80188 processor, possibly even an 80187 coprocessor...
I know that the 80186 series was for imbedded applications (just as is the 80386ex), but I have heard there were also computers out there using those. Any help would be appreciated.

thanx,

Need the DIP switch settings for two very different printers:

Silver Reed EXP-550 daisy wheel printer

Epson LX-86 Dot Matrix 9 pin.

Anyone that has documentation for these and would be able to scan them into attachable form (such as GIF, PCX, JPG, etc) would go down in my book as a really great person! Epson is no help and I have no idea how to contact Silver Seiko, if they even exist any longer. I know tons of people had the Silver Reeds back in the late '80's when I was running a Sanyo 55x.

I have a Packard-Bell color monitor made in 1989 which was functioning
with a 286 PC clone.It attached to the 286 with a D-shaped connector that
has 2 rows of pins of which 5 are on one row and three on
the other row.My question is whether it would be safe to
connect such a monitor to a newer PC such as a 486 which
uses a more modern 3-rowed connector.If so,are adapters
readily available? Thanks for any help in this matter.

Anyone have a Sanyo MBC-550 series computer laying around in storage with modifications or factory boards, and may want to get rid of it (trade)?? The previous message writer has one and may need information on the 550/555 series "silver box" to continue to use his. I may also be interested in adding one to my collection if it's working and has certain modifications and options on it. A bunch of the old Soft Sector magazines would be a plus.

I had one years ago and know 99% of it's crawbacks, that's why I eventually sold mine. I'm not quite sure why I'd want to hurt myself voluntarily by looking for another, but I may if someone has a decent one. I have an assortment of odd working machines here I can trade that person for if they collect other older machines.

A Friend(?) just gave me an Epson Equity 386sx plus.
I am guessing from the bootup msgs that it needs a "setup"
disk (reference Disk). The Epson FAQ (at their website)
mentions lots of stuff that this disk is used for. Does anyone
have one of these disks I might copy/buy ?? Also, If anyone
has any printed documentation on the Mother Board, I would
be interested in that...
2nd Question, Does anybody know the details about its memory
config ?? (I have the one with 2 MB and lots o' sockets.
What kind of memory is needed ?? The epson site is nice, but
shy of some of these details.

Thanks.

I have some no-name 1 meg video cards that use the Trident 8900C

on the board, 40.000 MHz. All of the boards display a narrow
green stripe near the right hand side of the screen when
anything but a standard VGA mode (640x480 or less) is used.
I've been told that 3.xx version BIOSes don't have this
deficiency, but I haven't been able to locate one anywhere,
and Quadtel and Trident can't/won't help. Can somebody
post this BIOS in MIME or uuencoded format in a Usenet

I have recently acquired a Tandy 3000NL machine which needed the CMOS battery replaced. I replaced the battery and ran the setup program. The problem is the machine has a Quantum prodrive 80S harddrive (formatted capacity of 83 meg) attached to an Adaptec AHA-1542A SCSI adapter. The setup program does not have any matching drive types. Anyone have any idea how to specify the drive type so that I can boot the machine from the hard drive? Everything appears to be in working order on the machine I just can't get past needing a boot disk because of the hard drive type.

The saga of the CompuAdd 425TFX continues.... I need to replace the integrated trackball unit. Anyone know where to get one? I can use an external mouse, but that defeats the purpose.
Next... I replaced the coin type soldered-in CMOS battery with a LARGE Tadarian 3.6 volt cell.(Not for the squeamish!) I snipped the battery connectors flush with the motherboard, soldered in new contact posts, then soldered the new CMOS battery leads to the appropriate posts. (Much easier than it sounds...) This eliminated the dead CMOS battery problem AND fixed another malfunction.
Initially the power switch seemed to be stuck in the "on"
position. Not a big problem, but the battery wouldn't charge as a result. (Battery charges with unit off and power adapter connected.)Replacing the CMOS battery fixed the power switch! So now I have an operational laptop, except for the trackball........

(1)To Steve Gossage (Nov 18) re: setup on Zenith laptops-------------------------------------------------------------------Jeez, thanks! I tried those techniques on my ZFL-184-01 that yousuggested Dave Jennen try on his ZWL-184-97, because they work onyour ZWL-184-02. I didn't see that ESC during bootup did anythingon my machine, but CTRL+ALT+INS brought up something called"MFM-180 Monitor, Version 3.1D". Turns out to be much like IBM'sDEBUG, with a couple additional features, such as a "color bar". Itdidn't have anything to do with setting-anything-up. In my ZenithDOS Version 3.21 disk there's a file named SETUP.EXE, so I typedSETUP and got a utility called "SETUP utility for MS-DOS Version3.21, Copyright (C) 1986 Zenith Data Systems". "This utility allowsyou to backup your Distribution Disks and create working floppydisks and/or partitions on your hard disk."------------------------------------------------------------------- None of this relates to actual "setup" on my machine. Guess I'mlucky mine is working ok (far as I know), so that I don't NEED anysetup. Also, my machine doesn't have any DIP switches, at least notany visible without opening the case (which I have never done). SoI'm not in need of DIP switch info either. But I'm glad to knowabout this NEW (to me) feature that my machine has, which no one hadever told me about before. So "Thanks"!-------------------------------------------------------------------(2)Zenith sources of info include the following--http://support.zds.com/support/software/index.asp ------------(WWW)916-386-9899 ----------BBS via dialup with modem, up to 14,400 baudtelnet://bbs.zds.com ---------BBS (same as 916-386-9899) via telnet-------------------------------------------------------------------(3)From the BBS I got a free downloadable file named MODEL.ZIP(4,418 bytes) which lists the Zenith model #s along with a VERY brief description of the machine. (It's in file area 33, "ZDSGeneral Utilities".) The descriptions for Mine, Yours, and DaveJennen's model #s are as follows. ---------------------------------------------------------------ZFL-184-01 SUPERSPORT MODEL 2------------------------------ZWL-184-02 SUPERSPORT MODEL 20------------------------------ZWL-184-97 SUPERSPORT 640K 1FDD 1HDD-------It looks to me like the middle part of the model # (the"184" in those 3 above), which may be either a 3-digit or 4-digitnumber, indicates the CPU. For example:------------------------------ZWL-286-2 SLIMSPORT 286 MODEL 20------------------------------ZDE-2217-BO Z-286 512K 1FDD 1HDD EGA------------------------------ZWL-316-Z MASTERSPORT 386SX MDL60------------------------------ZTC-3034-EB TURBOSPORT 386 MODEL 40So all those models with #s below 2xx (such as 184) are probablyCPU prior to 80286. Probably 80C88, the CMOS version of the 8088. -------------------------------------------------------------------(4)Hope this info will be of interest to the many Zenith laptopusers who've been posting here lately.

Looking for anyone with either an internal 400k (working) floppy drive that they may have left over from upgrding to an 800k, or anyone that may have a spare 800k internal.
The drive is for a Mac 512k which is like a Mac Plus in that the drive is auto eject and internal in the monitor/cpu box.

I can swap one of the C64 setups below or pay a reasonable amount.

I have 4 complete C64 sets waiting for someone that might want or need these inexpensively. Each has a C64 in great shape, power supply, 1541 drive. I'd like $25 plus shippping for each set. Great for that hole in your collection as these are working and tested, work fine and last a long time. I also have two additional 1541 drives besides, for $10 each plus shipping. If you want the drive set for a device number other than 8, I can accomodate that before you get it so you can have up to 4 drives on a C64 (units 8,9,10 and 11). No need for a monitor with a C64, it can work through a TV set.
These are excess that I've collected to get the parts needed for my own C64C and are in great shape but I need to get them out of my way soon. Will consider trade for any speed SCSI cdrom drives in working condition.

Email me and arrange to get yours soon. I've already gotten three units prior to this gone without a problem and they weren't working.

I have an IBM PS1 model 2155-G52, bought new in 1993, it a
486 with and Stacker Overdrive running at 80 Mhz. Problem am
trying to answer - want to upgrade memory beyond 16MB, but
everytime I and SIMMS above 16MB system starts locking up
when accessing programs - will boot just fine, but locks up on
some applications and in Internet. Is there a jumper setting
on the motherboard I need to change or do I need a new BIOS
or just have to live with 16MB or buy a new computer?

I recently acquired an old 8088-based NEC PC-5000 laptop computer (roughly XT-class in its capabilities). It uses bubble memory in lieu of a disk drive. Does anyone out there have any technical documentation for this thing? I'd like to be able to hook a floppy to it. The chips are covered with black epoxy goop, so tracing out the circuit isn't even a practical option.

Thanks for any help you might be able to provide!

2) HP Vectra QS/16 - The controller is a D2384-60001.

I work for a drop-in centre and sometimes we get old computers donated to us. I refurbish these (and cannibalise others) and give them to various community groups.

All worked fine until some time ago when the last batch came in from a Government Department. There were
a Mac Classic - no startup/system disk, so it won't boot
an Amstrad 386 machine which insists that it needs a setup disk
an IBM full tower (with a 386 processor inside) which
(a) runs Unix and I haven't got the log-in or password and
(b) has the BIOS setup to run C on boot and is also password protected - ideas on how to get inside this one would be appreciated. I don't fancy killing the CMOS supply to erase the BIOS 'cos I don't have an IBM setup disk.

Thanks for reading and more thanks if you can help.

For all those looking for software for old Macs (like the 128k, 512k/ke, Plus, etc.),
check out:

http://www.eden.com/~arena/jagshouse/jagshouseone.html
http://walli.walli.uwasa.fi/~mhaveri/68000.txt

JAG's house has an enormous quantity of software, including
the very first version of system software Apple released, and
even what you need to put an old Mac on the Web (!). The second
site has a nice listing of software that works on these old
machines, as well as an extensive list of URLs for other
Mac-related sites from which even more software can be downloaded.

Some users with PC-based browsers may encounter difficulty
downloading Mac software. Those who do may need to reset
options in their browser not to filter out Mac stuff (whose
files may have extensions such as ".hqx" or ".sit" or other
things that might look foreign to a PC).

Enjoy!

Me again...Thanks to those that answered my previous pleas...

This involves a tape drive for a PC. It's an Irwin Magnetics model 145 that uses QIC 80 DC2120 tpaes, much like a Colorado/HP Jumbo 250/350. No problem there but - it has a card edge connector on the back. The main problem is that it's 2 card edge connctors, like an MFM or RLL hard disk. It also has the common 4 pin Molex power plug. Does this puppy plug into the floppy cable somehow? Or is it supposed to have a propreitary (special) controller?? Does anyone have one and maybe the docs for it that they might have to copy? I'd like to put this in my brother's machine and save him a few bucks. It seems to be the same as any common floppy tape drive other than the double connector.
It also has a jumper on it like floppies have for the drive designation, a 5 position header and block named "J8" near the connector.

Thanks again to those that ahave answered before and who will to this. Thanks also to the person smart enough to have created and maintain this page!

This concerns the permanent renumbering of device numbers for Commodore 1541 drives (not 1541 II's)

I've read both the manual for the VIC1541 and 1541/1541CR about the changing of the device numbers, physically and
permanently. I found two items between the large capacitors on the back of the board near the power and serial connections
marked J1 and J2 which is what the books both say are ":jumpers". Is it my imagination or are these actually two hald circles
on the printed circuit with a small trace between them? When they say to "cut" a jumper they mean scrape out the trace
between the two half circles?

Well if it's correct, that's what I did with one of two drives. They're both 1541's and connected to the newer style C64. I
have the serial cable from the C64 to the #8 serial port, then the next cable from the other connector of that drive to the #9
unit's serial port. I use the command LOAD"$",8 and I get the directory loaded for the first unit. I try LOAD"$",9 and I get
nothing...it does not read the second drive with J1's trace cut to make it number 9.

Am I doing something wrong? Did I do the device naming trace cut correctly? I've used Commies before but never with
more than one drive.

Any info/help for a person too used to IBM's would be greatly appreciated.

Have a Mac 512k with original 400k floppy drive. I have all the original disks but the boot disk was damaged by the original owner when they couldn't get the disk out of the floppy (eject mechanism stuck due to dried grease, even push hole was stuck, so they used a butterknife to get it out). The drive is functional but the disk is crap now. The machine gives me a frown face when the disk is inserted and ejects it, then asks for the boot disk again. Apple does not even support it anymore and can't even tell me where to get a new one.

Anyone out there have an original Mac 512k with 400k boot disk that could make a copy or two for the cost od the disks and the mailing and time? If I don't get a disk, the machine is merely a museum piece.

I'm looking for a disk drive that takes 3" floppies. (The
mfg of the unit that uses this drive calls them 2.8" Quick

I need a working drive, or specs on the drive, or information

labeled "Smith-Corona DataDisk".
Any information is appreciated.

http://www1.ibmlink.ibm.com/cgi-bin/master? xh=aqKrOh5mX1f5zG0USenGnN9332&request=ibmmanuals &parms=bS52G9971%2fCONTENTS

I suggest you cut and paste this to your bookmarks (favorites) as it took me three days to find it again after I had found it accidentally in June. I didn't bookmark it and whoa! Took forever to locate it. It's a giant book but you can print the section(s) you need for your machine(s).

I have several requsets to make please help.
1) I recently upgraded my IBM PS/2 Note N33SX laptop from 2meg to 6meg now every time I boot up I have to press F1 to bypass an error. After running Norton Diagnostics it came to the conclusion that the bios settings needed altering. So can anybody tell me how I do that? Do I need a disk or is there a key combination?
2) I have a GRiD 1520 which I believe the battery has died in where can I get a new one and how do I fit it?
3) Does and body have a IBM Thinkpad 700C with a broken display? Either I would like to purchase it from you or I could sell you a colour display from my broken one. I also have a power supply, floppy disk drive (internal) and battery.
4) Does any body need spares for a GRiD 1520 286 (broken display) or Tandy Laptop eg. keyboard, floppy drive, case and hard disk.

For Alex Hernandez: The IBM XT/370 was a standard IBM PC/XT
with three special cards that allowed it to connect to and
work with an IBM System 370 mainframe computer. If you use it
at home it is essentially an IBM PC/XT with a 4.77 MHz CPU
(compaired to the 300 MHz CPU's available today) and 0.64MB
of RAM (memory) compaired to the 16MB or more on a typical
computer today. Needless to say, it won't run Windows 95.
You can run DOS and DOS programs like older versions of
Word, Wordperfect, Lotus 123, Quicken, dBASE, and others, so
you can still do useful things with it. After all, it was
state-of-the-art in 1983.

Does anyone have any software or manuals for this thing?

Hello

My Osborn Executive's built in screen just flickers and
scrolls (kind of like when you mess with the v-hold on a
TV). Luckily it has an external composit jack, so I just
use my commodore monitor, but I would really like to fix it.
I think it might just need adjustment, but have never really
worked on a monitor before. Any suggestions welcome. also,
if you need a boot disk for an executive, mail me. Thanks.

For David Sisson: the IBM PS/2 error code 201 indicates a memory
test failure at the given hexadecimal memory address, meaning you have
a bad memory SIMM that must be replaced.

Hello,
A Datavue "Spark" was donated to the Child Care facility at which I work.
Upon attempts to boot the system, an error message of "The Boot Operation
Failed -- Check the Disk!!". Is there a boot disc necessary for this
machine, and if so where may I obtain one? (Secondly, is it really
worth the effort, as I have no idea what this machine is from looking
at it, other than "old"?)
Thank You,

Being a collector myself, I enjoy this page and reading about
other peoples "oldies". I've noticed FAQ's about how to get
into CMOS setups on lots of old computers. In most cases if
you "create" an error, such as holding down a key on the keyboard
or disconnecting a controller card, you will get a message
"unable to detect.....press...to enter setup" If this works for
you, great, if not I tried. Good Luck

Need a hard disk cable for an IBM PS/2 model 30 (or others compatible) that allows the use of an IBM PS/2 style hard drive (wide card edge connector only) to the header connector on the motherboard. Will pay a reasonable amount and shipping (throw it in an envelope Gertrude!) If possible I also need a facplate that goes over the hard disk and has the little indicator are for the hard disk's activity light as I'm pulling a 720k floppy out to install the hard disk.

Need it real soon, have to get a model 30 out of the floppy world soon.

In addition to the posted FREE message below, I also have two Commodore 1541 drives to go FREE as well. If you want these with the C64/VIC20 package aforementioned, let me know. These puppies are a bit heavy though. One is apart but appears to be somwehat workable, the other is in good shape and working but seems to have mechanical binding inside.

Anyone can have these AS-IS as a package or combine them with the three dead computers below. Excellent for repairing for those that really get "into" Commodores and know how to troubleshoot them. The two drives go together or with the C64's but not separately. As in the message below they go to the dump after Thursday the 20th so respond now. All I want is the approximate shipping charges paid in advance or something usable (more 30 pin SIMMs, any size such as 512k, 1mb, 2mb, etc).

FREE to a needy home, for possible disection...two Commodore 64's and a VIC 20. If you want a partly working machine for a collection, or need a parts stockpile these are for you! I'm going through my vast colection of auction stuff and testing these out to find that I have some that turn on, power up but no video and no response from the keyboard, so I'm guessing that something in the processor or basic rom is kaput! You get to pay shipping and I let you have them AS-IS. The C64's have excellent cases and keyboards, etc but just don't boot and I'm too busy to worry about repairing a machine that I'll be lucky to see $10 from. The VIC 20 is of unknown condition as I have no way to run it since I have no cables for it.
I need a real response by Wednesday Nov 19th or they go to that big landfill in the sky. Of course we'll guess-timate the UPS on it with UPS's calculator on the web and I'll need a money order for the approximate shipping before I ship them. They all go as one lot, all or none. I will consider a trade of 2 30 pin 1meg 70ns SIMMs in place of the UPS charges so I can get another machine up and running soon.

Respond soon, or they go out with the trash. Commies are getting scarce and the people that sell them know it.

Need info and other for a TRS-80 model 4. First I am need of the boot/DOS disk(s) for one as I have no access to anyone with one here. Im willing to pay for the disk(s), postage and a small fee for your time. I also need to know if you can use stock 3.5" floppies (720k) with an adapter in one, and whether the TRS-80 4 can accept more than two floppies, say 4?? If you think I'm weird for asking, check the picture at http://www.searchlight.com/frank/milo.htm
The owner has the original Searchlight BBS software still running on a model 4 through a telnet connection - click on the picture.

I may keep one of the two I have if I can get startup disks and use 720k floppies in it, and add two more. Does anything have to be done to the floppy drive (jumpers) to use it in a model 4?

Need a keyboard cable for a Tandy 1000. Radio Shack/tandy is HIGH (no surprise) and this unit is being repaired for a "little old lady" (no, really) that bought this computer due to limited funds but an undying need to learn something new. It doesn't matter if it has the DIN plug on it or even if it's off of a 2000 (same cable). It does have to be functional (they break internally like CB mike cords do) from pulling and hers is shot, giving dots on the screen when you type. Anyone have one cheap or know of a reseller that handles these as refurbished (huh?) or new at a decent price. I'm sure there's tons of Tandy owners out there!

I just picked up a Apple IIe (non-enhanced) with a Grappler+ Card,
of course I got no print drivers. So-- does the card need special
drivers? And if so, does anyone have a copy or other info about
using the card? I'd also be interested in with AppleWorks if someone
has an unwanted copy laying around.

Thanks. Mike

Someone just gave me a Epson Equity 1 Model # Q501A. It has one 5 1/4 floppy and a Seagate ST238R in it. It does not recognize the hard drive.
It says that the C: drive does not exist. Does any body know how to access the C MOS in this machine? I tried hitting DEL on bootup but it didn't do anything.
Any help would be appreciated.

I am trying to read some old 5.25" floppies. When I try to access them on my machine (IBM clone Pentium) I get a "Drive not found" error.

The floppies seem to be written in the Valdocs word processing program run on an old Epson. (The manual shows an old machine with two floppies and no hard drive) It sounds to me like this was a program written for CPM.

Are there any utilities that can be used to transfer documents written on CPM to DOS?

I have found a Tandy 1000 (original) at a second hand store. I could not resist buying it. My problem now is getting it operational. When I turn it on, it shows the memory size 384, then shows memory error information, then lists numbers in rows. Once it came up to a prompt that told me to insert a system disk. From what I have read on the internet the Tandy 1000 didn't need a system disk. I have searched the net for two days to get a clue, to no avail. Any help would be appreciated. Sincerely, K

I've noticed that a lot of folks have old hardware that
works, but bad boot floppies. The best fix I've found for
this is QuickDos 3.0. QD3 will copy bad files to a new disk.
This often fixes them, probably because it is actually the
disk that is bad. It has worked for me. Good Luck!

I installed a new cmos battery in a Compudyne 486/33 machine. In the cmos setup I was able to get the correct info for the HDD, etc. The machine is running 3.1 windows.
When I exit windows and go to the C prompt, and then try a Ctrl,Alt,Del to do a reboot, I get a message as it tries to reboot:cmos memory mismatch.....which wants me to go back into the cmos setup. I can do a ctrl, alt, del from within windows(twice) and it reboots fine. Any suggestions???

I have a CompuAdd 325tx and a Zenith Data Systems SuperSport 286 that are having problems. First, the CompuAdd:
I know the computer worked (I used it before), but an employee at the company I work for spilled tea on her desk. None got into the computer (that we could see), but it will not boot up or show any signs of life. When the AC power supply is connected to the system, the light on the AC pow. sup. starts to blink (On,Off,,,,,repeat) and the system does nothing (with the switch on or off). The battery gets warm if left in the computer for a long period of time, whether plugged in or not. The switch is good...

Zenith:
Turn it on, screen initializes, system beeps, and checks the floppy. Then the screen shuts off. The drive HEADS move, but not the disk motor, and then the systems FLOPPY light stays on. Keyboard responds to CTRL-ALT-DEL. I know that was a little long, but does ANYBODY know how to fix this, or what might be wrong, or where I can go for help???

It had 4 ram cards before and I'm tryign to install 4. When I put only 2 in, it says "Configuration has changed, run setup program." I don't know what the setup program is. I've also got an old GRID 286 that needs a new hard drive but I can't get into the bois. I've tried "ctrl-alt-esc" "del" and anything else I can think of! Also I would like the settings for a Plus Impulse 40AT hard drive. Thanks!

Does anyone have any info on a Chaintech Lynx 286 Booksize PC?
This puppy is barely thicker than a 1.44 floppy, about twice
that wide, and squeezes in a 3.5" IDE hard drive next to the
1.44. It has four 256K SIPP modules and a 16Mhz 286 CPU.
It has Pheonix BIOS, 2 serial, one LPT port, and a 9 pin
video port that is NOT mono. Hopefully it is at least EGA!
I had to modify a PS/2 mouse connector to replace the one
some $^#&*^ jerk cut off the external power supply, which
is about 2/3 the size of the main box. Chaintech shreds
info on products over 5 years old. This would make a nice
Word Perfect computer.

for Windows 3.11 (note the different word order) can
be added to Win 3.11 on a 286. The 286 runs all these
versions in real or standard mode. Additional note:
3.1 and 3.11 have real mode removed so they won't
work on PC/XT and compatibles! The 286 uses standard
mode only, except it can use real mode with 3.0 if
you _really_ want to.

80386+ all the forementioned versions work on these
with the addition of WFWG 3.11 which ONLY works in
386 enhanced mode! Windows95 also runs on a 386 or
better x86 CPU.

I want to get this off my hands, and I guess this would be the place. I have in my garage an original model Remington-Rand Univac. I would be willing to give this away to anyone who would be willing to pay for it to be hauled away. Email me for info.

Hello,
I just received an old computer that was about to be
thrown away and I need some help with it. The only marking
on it is a plate which reads "Standard Turbo" It appears to
be an old 8088. Any information that anyone can supply me
with would be extremely helpful. Also, if anyone knows where
I can find some freeware or shareware that will run on or
possibly even enhance the functionality of this machine,
I would be most grateful.
Thanks,
Authona

Hello. I am searching for information on the IBM 5110. I played around with one of these last night at a thrift store and almost bought it, but I wanted to know a little bit more about it first. What are the DB-connectors on the back for? What in the world could I do with it? There was a dual 8" disk drive in another part of the store that was HUGE. Do the two go together?

Thank you,
Jason Whorton

I am trying to upgrade the memory on a Compudyne 486DX2/66 computer. I was able to upgrade from 8 meg to 16 meg. When I try to upgrade to 32 meg by adding two additional 8 meg chips, the computer will not recognize the new memory. The motherboard has 4 memory slots and I have filled them all, but the computer only recognizes 16 meg. If anyone has any ideas, please let me know.
Thanks!

Ok, I hae an old Epson Equity II+ with a harddrive upgrade problem, I was wondering
what the type of hard drive these systems are, "MFM""RLL""IDE" , I'm tryign to put in
a Seagate 210 mb in this system of which this system had no hard drive let alone a card
for one.(only a floppy drive) I have the setup bios program for it (unfortunatly it has
no user defined hard drive setup) but I need to know what type of hard drive support it
has, (if it's anything but IDE, I guess the garbage truck will have a computer too.) well
I appreciate any info by email...
