Stephen Benz was born in the United States, and during the past twenty years has travelled, studied and lived in Central America. His previous book, Guatemalan Journey, concerns his experiences living in Guatemala, where he taught at the national university. In 1997 he was the winner of two SATW Lowell Thomas Travel Journalism awards. Stephen Benz currently lives in Miami.
