Ripping Music from CDs

Ctrl+R

 File Menu

Choosing Rip to Library from the File menu rips music from a CD to the computer. Recorded files are placed in the location specified in the Preferences/Ripping Tab, and SIREN automatically places links to the files in the Media Library tab. You can play music from the media library while ripping CDs, but cannot listen to the CD itself during ripping.

To rip music from a CD to the computer

  1. Place an audio CD in the CD-ROM drive.

  2. Click on the Play/Rip CD tab in the Media Manager panel. The CD's tracks and database information are displayed.

If the system has multiple CD drives, you must specify the appropriate drive to display the track listing and database information.

  1. If the track information is not displayed, access CDDB or add this information manually.

If track information is not displayed or added, SIREN rips all songs as unknown and numbers them sequentially.

  1. Select the track(s) to be ripped and click on the Rip to Library button in the Media Manager panel command bar, or choose Rip to Library from the File menu.

SIREN rips the song(s) to the media files folder and a progress meter is displayed in the status column to the right of each track being ripped. To halt ripping, click on the Cancel Ripping button . Progress can also be monitored using the Encoding List from either the Play/Rip CD or Explore Files tab.
