Preferences - Ripping Tab

Options Menu

The Ripping tab of the Preferences dialog allows you to specify the format SIREN should use when ripping files to the Media Library. You can rip tracks to the computer in the following formats: .wav, .mp3, .wma, .ogg, or in Sonic Foundry's lossless compression format, .pca (not available to SIRENXpress users).

You can also store the ripping settings in a custom template so that you do not have to access and specify settings in the Custom Settings dialog every time you want to use these settings.

What do you want to do?

Specify the ripping format

  1. From the Options menu, choose Preferences. The Preferences dialog appears.

  2. Select the Ripping tab.

  3. Specify the desired ripping format from the Rip to Library format drop-down list.

  4. Select the ripping bitrate from the drop-down list.

  5. Click on the Custom button to specify custom settings. For information on each setting available in the Custom Settings dialog, click on the What's This? help button and then on the item.

  7. Click on the Use Digital Rights Management check box if you want to only allow the ripped files to be played on the computer from which they were ripped.

  8. Click OK.

Save ripping settings in a custom template

This procedure assumes that you have specified all settings for the ripping format.

  1. From the Custom Settings dialog (via clicking on the Custom button) enter a new name in the Template text box.

  2. Click on the Save Template button . The settings are saved in a custom template under the specified name.

Once created, your custom template is listed at the bottom of the Ripping tab Bitrate drop down box for future use. To delete a template, click on the Delete button .
