Reverb

Reverb simulates the acoustics of various venues and situations. It can also be used to create interesting effects by placing sounds in spaces, real and otherwise, where they are not normally heard. Click on the Reverb icon to display the Reverb menu. From the menu, you can disable Reverb, choose a Reverb preset and set a custom reverb effect

Description

Mix

Determines the amount of processed sound in the input. When Mix is set to 100%, only the reverberated signal is heard. For more realistic reverb effects, reduce the Mix level.

Size

Determines the time lapse between the initial audio and the onset of reverberation. This determines the illusion of the size of the acoustic space. Longer time lapses are associated with larger spaces; therefore, increasing the value simulates a larger room.

Brightness

Determines the reverb decay time. In a dampened room, walls absorb sound quickly, whereas in a bright room, such as a gymnasium, walls reflect more sound. Reverberation in a bright room lasts substantially longer than in a damp room, therefore increasing the Brightness level simulates a larger, brighter value.

Set a custom Reverb effect

  1. Click on the Reverb icon in the Play Controller Panel.

  2. Choose Custom from the shortcut menu. The Reverb dialog displays.

  3. Like Graphic EQ, Reverb values are set by dragging the slider thumb left or right. Dragging the thumb to the right increases the value. Dragging the thumb to the left decreases the value.

  4. Close the Reverb dialog. The custom reverberation is applied to the audio and the Reverb icon changes color.
