This evaluation disk contains a fully functional version of eMAIL, not just
an explanatory text file or slide show. There are two versions of eMAIL on
this disk, for two different operating systems: instructions for running the
two are given below.
To run eMAIL for Windows 3.0:
Double-click on EMAILW30.EXE.
To run eMAIL for DOS:
Type EMAIL [USERNAME].
Important Limitations:
1. The disk is configure to run only off drive A: and will not work if you
simply copy it to another drive. If you want to use eMAIL on the network or
on a hard drive, you must use MOVEDEMO.BAT to move the demo. Instrutions
on using MOVEDEMO are given in the file README.TXT.
2. No installation or administration is required. You can log into EMAIL with
any name, and send a message to any name. A good way to test the program is
to login in, send a message to JOHN, and then log in as JOHN to receive the
message. In the commercial version of eMAIL, all users must be entered by the
Administrator as a security precaution.
3. You can only have one outstanding message per user. If someone sends you
two messages before you receive either, you will only receive the second one
when you log into eMAIL. The commercial version of eMAIL, of course, does not
limit the number of outstanding messages.
A special mailbox has bee created for a use named GARY. You can introduce your-
self to eMAIL by running the program as GARY and reading the mail that has been
sent to you. DOS users can also learn quickly by typing DOSDEMO, which gives a
short demonstration of eMAIL for DOS.
