Dear Sysops;
Use this information as you wish, put it in bulletins, convert it to dialing
directories, etc.
Leave me a note on Interconect or Swap Shop or Mystery with your 72 character
advertisement/board description. That is your way of attracting the type of
users you want and avoiding the ones who wouldn't be interested in your board.
I receive many comments that the use of the words "metro" and "non-metro" are
relative to Oakton/Tysons and not reflective of the needs of the whole area.
Quite right! Remember that this list began as "my" list and was not initially
intended to be all things to all people in all locations. We have moved to
local listings of the bbs numbers, added the "DC/Md loc" category
and added to the non-metro numbers in an attempt to provide more service.
But there are limits to what I am willing to put into this project...divorce
lawyers are expensive and kids are only young once...and I have always invited
others in other areas to work out their own list or their own method of display.
This was a lot of fun at first when there were 100 boards.
It is just work 30 months later as the numbers climb over 760.
The ideal situation would be for a user to be able to get a listing of the
boards local to him/her by inputing the exchange he wants to call from and
having a program examine the list of boards and delete those which are not
local to the exchange supplied.
This would be an easy task if we had a computer readable list of the
exchanges reachable from each exchange. Anyone have access to such a list?
Maybe someone who works for the phone company?
Thanks for running your board. We all benefit from your time and $ <grin>.
enjoy, mike
