  3.  THIRD LETTER OF JOHN
  4.  
  5. 1 The elder unto the
  6. wellbeloved Gaius, whom I love in the
  7. truth.
  8. 2 Beloved, I wish above all
  9. things that thou mayest prosper and
  10. be in health, even as thy soul
  11. prospereth.
  12. 3 For I rejoiced greatly, when
  13. the brethren came and testified of
  14. the truth that is in thee, even as
  15. thou walkest in the truth.
  16. 4 I have no greater joy than to
  17. hear that my children walk in truth.
  18. 5 Beloved, thou doest faithfully
  19. whatsoever thou doest to the
  20. brethren, and to strangers;
  21. 6 Which have borne witness of
  22. thy charity before the church: whom
  23. if thou bring forward on their
  24. journey after a godly sort, thou
  25. shalt do well:
  26. 7 Because that for his name's
  27. sake they went forth, taking nothing
  28. of the Gentiles.
  29. 8 We therefore ought to receive
  30. such, that we might be fellowhelpers
  31. to the truth.
  32. 9 I wrote unto the church: but
  33. Diotrephes, who loveth to have the
  34. preeminence among them, receiveth us
  35. not.
  36. 10 Wherefore, if I come, I will
  37. remember his deeds which he doeth,
  38. prating against us with malicious
  39. words: and not content therewith,
  40. neither doth he himself receive the
  41. brethren, and forbiddeth them that
  42. would, and casteth them out of the
  43. church.
  44. 11 Beloved, follow not that
  45. which is evil, but that which is
  46. good. He that doeth good is of God:
  47. but he that doeth evil hath not seen
  48. God.
  49. 12 Demetrius hath good report of
  50. all men, and of the truth itself:
  51. yea, and we also bear record; and ye
  52. know that our record is true.
  53. 13 I had many things to write,
  54. but I will not with ink and pen write
  55. unto thee:
  56. 14 But I trust I shall shortly
  57. see thee, and we shall speak face to
  58. face. Peace be to thee. Our friends
  59. salute thee. Greet the friends by
  60. name.
