  3.  SECOND LETTER OF JOHN
  4.  
  5. 1 The elder unto the
  6. elect lady and her children, whom I
  7. love in the truth; and not I only,
  8. but also all they that have known the
  9. truth;
  10. 2 For the truth's sake, which
  11. dwelleth in us, and shall be with us
  12. for ever.
  13. 3 Grace be with you, mercy, and
  14. peace, from God the Father, and from
  15. the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of the
  16. Father, in truth and love.
  17. 4 I rejoiced greatly that I
  18. found of thy children walking in
  19. truth, as we have received a
  20. commandment from the Father.
  21. 5 And now I beseech thee, lady,
  22. not as though I wrote a new
  23. commandment unto thee, but that which
  24. we had from the beginning, that we
  25. love one another.
  26. 6 And this is love, that we walk
  27. after his commandments. This is the
  28. commandment, That, as ye have heard
  29. from the beginning, ye should walk in
  30. it.
  31. 7 For many deceivers are entered
  32. into the world, who confess not that
  33. Jesus Christ is come in the flesh.
  34. This is a deceiver and an antichrist.
  35. 8 Look to yourselves, that we
  36. lose not those things which we have
  37. wrought, but that we receive a full
  38. reward.
  39. 9 Whosoever transgresseth, and
  40. abideth not in the doctrine of
  41. Christ, hath not God. He that abideth
  42. in the doctrine of Christ, he hath
  43. both the Father and the Son.
  44. 10 If there come any unto you,
  45. and bring not this doctrine, receive
  46. him not into your house, neither bid
  47. him God speed:
  48. 11 For he that biddeth him God
  49. speed is partaker of his evil deeds.
  50. 12 Having many things to write
  51. unto you, I would not write with
  52. paper and ink: but I trust to come
  53. unto you, and speak face to face,
  54. that our joy may be full.
  55. 13 The children of thy elect
  56. sister greet thee. Amen.
