  1.       This file was added to the Sierra Arcived file after I played around
  2. with my copy of HELICOPTER. Since some things didn't work the way I thought
  3. it would, it took me a long time to do it. Then one time I tested what I 
  4. just did in the DEBUG session and pressed <ENTER>, I went ugh !  But when
  5. I tried to <ESC> and go back to another DEBUG session. You guessed it.
  6. The HELICOPTER game started, You know the rest of this story.

  8. The patch given in the SIERRA.DOC file does work for HELI.COM , which is the
  9.  
  10. Loader for HELICOPTER version 1.00 .

  12. Here are the steps to follow :

  14. DEBUG HELI.COM
  15. -N SIERRA.DAT
  16. -L 141          Loads SIERRA.DAT
  17. -E 395
  18. XXXX:0395 32.   When you see something like this, you will type
  19.                 90 <SPACE> 90 <SPACE> 90 <ENTER>
  20.                 the above is really "90 90 90" but when you do it you will see
  21.                 why I typed it that way.
  22. -N HELIBAK.COM
  23. -R CX
  24. CX 0080
  25. :0AF6           Enter here the size of the file HELIBAK.COM (which is 0AF6)
  26. -W              Save your work on disk
  27. -Q              Exit DEBUG

  30. Now here is the trick :

  32. At the DOS prompt run     HELIBAK.COM
  33.  
  34. When it asks you to put the "ORIGINAL" Disk in the drive and press <ENTER>,
  35.  
  36.                    YOU DON'T !!!   
  37.  
  38. You press the   <ESC>   key    and the Program should Continue just fine.
  39.  
  40. You guessed it by now I'm sure, ...   It's not a "proper" patch but its one
  41.    that works.

  43. After you give it a good test, and know everything works fine ,

  45. COPY HELIBAK.COM HELI.COM
  46. DEL HELIBAK.COM
  47.  
  48. AND YOU ARE DONE . . . enjoy !!!
