This is the total amount that can be spent by a team in one season, including player salaries, trade frees, free agent fees and roster moves. This amount makes up the general prize fund which is split among the league's top finishers at the close of the season. Input the amount charged by the league for EACH player involved in a trade. This fee is negotiable by the teams involved in the trade. The fee may be paid by one team or the other or the amount may be split between the two teams. Who pays this fee can be an important negotiating point in a trade. The fee goes into the general prize fund. Default is $5. See Lndrv.Doc <3.50>. Input the amount charged by the league to sign a free agent during the season. This amount will also be the new free agent's salary for the remainder of the season. Default is $10. See LnDRV.DOC <3.40>. Input the amount charged by the league for roster moves. A roster move fee is charged when a player moves from reserve to the active roster . Default is No Charge. See LnDRV.DOC <3.04> for additional information on Roster Moves. Input the date using the format MM/DD/YYYY. For example April 12,1991 would be entered as 04/12/1991. Press <ENTER> when finished. Use the Up, Down, Left, & Right Arrow Keys to highlight players. To mark a player to be traded, press <ENTER>. If you change your mind about a marked player, highlight him again and press <ENTER> to unmark him. Press <ESC> when you have finished marking the players to be involved in this trade. See LnDRV.DOC <3.50> and <7.27>. Input statistics EXACTLY as they appear in the USA Today. LineDrive will separate active from inactive stats based on the players assigned position. Use the Up and Down Arrow Keys or <ENTER> to move from data field to data field. If a statistic is unchanged from last week just press <ENTER> or Down Arrow to move to the next stat and it will remain unchanged. LineDrive shows the Stat Update for the other league as being in progress. Return to other league's Update and allow it to finish it's cycle. If you are attempting to update stats for a single player rather than the entire league there is an option to do just that under "INDIVIDUAL PLAYER OPTIONS" in the MANAGER'S OPTIONS category. LineDrive shows that your player draft or auction has not been closed out. Return to the player draft, select any team, and choose the option "QUIT DRAFTING". Then choose "CLOSE OUT PLAYER DRAFT". LineDrive can't find the file Lndrv.CFG. This is normal the first time you run the program. This file is created by the installation process. This process only takes a few minutes to run and will configure LineDrive to your specifications. Press any key to exit help and return control to the main program. Then if you are ready to configure LineDrive press any key except <ESC>. If you do not have all the information you need,(team owners and team names), press <ESC> to exit the program. LineDrive cannot find the files it needs in the drive/directory that you specified when you configured the program. Probable cause is that the wrong disk is in the drive. Press any key to exit the help window and return control to the program. Then change to the proper disk and press a key again to resume. Press <ESC> if you need to exit the program. LineDrive supports two kinds of leagues, DRAFT LEAGUES and AUCTION LEAGUES. In a DRAFT LEAGUE, players are selected in an annual round by round player draft. Drafting Order is a semi-inverted order of last year's final league standings. (See LnDrv.DOC for a more detailed explanation of drafting order). No Fees are collected or prize funds distributed in a Draft League. In an Auction League team owners take turns nominating players for auction with the nominated player being sold to the highest bidder. In an Auction League owners are charged a fee for player trades, mid-season free agent signings and roster moves and cash prizes are distributed at the end of the season. See <1.00>. Input the statistics accrued while this player was on the BENCH ONLY. Input the amount received from this owner. Press <ESC> or input a zero if no money was received. You must select a team before choosing any of the other options in this category. ** VIEW STARTERS ** use this option to view the selected team's starting lineup. ** VIEW ENTIRE ROSTER ** use this option to view the entire roster including reserves. Useful for determining if the team has any roster spots open. ** INDIVIDUAL PLAYER OPTIONS ** use this option to view a player's stats or contract status, update his stats in case of a mid-week trade or roster move, or to extend or cancel his contract. ** PRINT OUT ROSTER ** use this option to make a printed copy of the selected team's roster. You may choose a printout with just statistics or all of each player's pertinent information. ** SIGN A FREE AGENT ** use this option to sign any player that is unowned by any other team in your league. You are limited to 3 free agents signings or player trades in the ShareWare Version. See LnDRV.DOC <3.40> for additional information. ** TRADE PLAYERS ** use this option to make trades with another Fantasy Team in your league. You are limited to 3 trades or free agent signings in the ShareWare Version of the program. See LnDRV.DOC <3.50> for additional information on trades. ** CALCULATE LEAGUE STANDINGS ** this option will sort your league's teams in order in all eight of the categories, assign a point value to each position, and then determine the overall league standings. ** PRINT NEWSLETTER ** this option will print out a newsletter for your league. Standings in each category will be shown along with the overall standings and a list of any transactions (i.e.. player trades, roster moves, free agent signings will be included. If you have not calculated league standings since your last newsletter, LineDrive will automatically calculate them before printing the newsletter. ** PLAYER SEARCH ** this option will allow you to search for players on any team in your league. LineDrive will search on any part of a player's name and is not case sensitive. For example a search for "bo" would reveal BO Jackson and Barry BOnds. A search for "CLARK" would reveal Jack Clark and Will Clark. ** RESET DATE ** allows the commissioner to reset the date if his computer's clock calendar is inaccurate. This option will also help commissioner's to bring an existing league into LineDrive by resetting the date to the year players were drafted and thus setting their contract expiration date correctly. ** HOLD PLAYER DRAFT or AUCTION ** use this option to select the players that make up your league. This will be an annual event as you will need to select players to fill voids made by players whose contracts have expired. The draft must be closed out before league play can begin. ** VIEW FUNDS REMAINING ** this option will allow you to view the amount of operating money remaining to each team in the league. ** VIEW PRIZE FUND DISTRIBUTION ** shows the distribution of prize money currently in the prize fund if the season was to end today. ** ACCOUNTS RECEIVABLE ** allows the commissioner to view the amount of money owed by each team and adjust this amount to account for payments made. Amounts due will also be printed at the end of the weekly newsletter. This option allows you to return to LineDrive's opening menu. ** PRINT CONTRACT DATA ** will print out each player's name, major league team, his current position, the year his contract expires and current rate of pay. ** PRINT ALL STATS ** will print each player's active stats (those accrued while on your active roster), his bench stats (those accrued while on the reserve or bench roster) and his total stats. ** PRINT ACTIVE STATS ONLY ** will only print those statistics accrued by each player while on your active roster. Note that if this position is already occupied by another player, the occupying player is automatically assigned to a reserve position. NOTE: Reserve Pitcher is not the same position as Reserve Batter. When assigning a player to Reserve make sure that it is under the proper category.
