"SETUP NEW SYSTEM"
When you first INSTALL FS-PRO, please select the MAIN MENU
item #7...
"UTILITIES/SETUP MODULE"
"High-Lite Bars"
"Paths"
"Personalizing"
"SETUP"
This module allows you to handle a lot of housekeeping
chores with your FS-PRO and MODE files and also lets you
customize the system to your specifications. If you do not
see HIGH-LITE bars in the "Library" directories, then you
will need to re-set your COLOR selections. By selecting the
SETUP module, you can quickly experiment with color
selections that will work with your computer.
Be sure to check your PATHS using the SETUP module. And,
type in your first and last name for personalized operation.
Select UTILITIES from the MAIN MENU and then select SETUP.
Please read the INFORMATION screens when you first operate
the UTILITIES module. There is a help file similar to this
with many helpful hints.
MAIN MENU
Individual MODULES are called up from the MAIN MENU. And,
you can always return to the FS-PRO MAIN MENU from any other
MODULE.
ON BOARD HELP
You may now access the HELP and MEMO module directly from
the MAIN MENU. We have tried to provide you with a simple
indexed help screen. Please browse through the information
if this is the first time you have messed around with FS-PRO.
Select the UTILITIES menu and then acccess the HELP/MEMO PAD
module.
PILOT'S CALCULATOR
You may access the Pilot's calculator from the Utilities Menu
or the AIRCRAFT data base module and vice-versa. We have added
an important feature for weights and balances to demonstrate
the use of these measurements to student pilots. Flight Simulator
provides some data for the Cessna and Lear. Our example
entry #2 is a Cessna 172 with a CG set to 37.1" (inches).
When you choose to use the calculator module, simply select
the NUMBERS from the menu and then select AIRCRAFT #2 to see
how the display works. We import the CG, weights and fuel
stuff from your aircraft data base and make some preliminary
calculations.
The calculator also provides for specific weather
calculations, sunrise and sunset azmuth and a USA time-zone
display. You may shuttle between the aircraft module and the
calculator or return at any point to the FS-PRO main menu.
FS-PRO CHECKRIDE
If you properly installed FS-PRO, then you may select item #1
from the main menu and a list of the ADVENTURES that came in
the ADVPAK1.ARC file will be presented in a window
directory. Use the arrow keys to highlight a filename and
the ENVIRONS screen will appear. If the highlight bar
obliterates the filename, then you have chosen a text
foreground color of black and you will have to pick another
color or put up with it.
.DAT files go in \FSP\ADV
.ADV files go in \FSP\ADV
.FPN files go in \FSP\ADV
.MOD files go in your FS MODE directory
(See PATH MAP option in UTILITIES/SETUP module.)
CHECKLIST
1. You should have files in your ADVENTURE LIBRARY.
2. Your name should be on the Main Menu somewhere.
3. You should have files in your MODE LIBRARY.
4. You should have 800 airports in the AIRPORT RECORDS.
(#45 = CRP - Corpus Christi, Texas) TEST RECORD
5. The screen colors should be what you want.
If your checklist fails, then go back to the docs and read
about INSTALLING the .MOD, .DAT, .ADV and AIRPORT data files
into their PROPER DIRECTORY. This data is provided with the
INSTALL program and must be on board for FS-PRO to work
properly.
CREATING AN ADVENTURE OF YOUR OWN
First, you must go fly a particular scenerio that you enjoy.
Most users will then use the "SLEW" controls to position the
aircraft onto the scenery disk grid. This may be a simple
"takeoff" setting or "upside down" in a stall facing a
tornado at 10,000 feet, out of gas and no parachute.
The point is, you will discover many unusual scenes
during your "flying" and you can SAVE them as a Flight
Simulator MODE. Then, by using FS-PRO, you can fully document
the newly saved .MOD file. Select item #2 from the MAIN
FS-PRO MENU and a window will appear with your library of
MODE files. Position the "high-lite" bar over your new .MOD
file and we will create a small .ADV file to store our own
MODE data. Then all you have to do is add your own personal
COMMENTS and you can then "Fly" the scenerio right from the
FS-PRO "Environs" MENU. The next time you look into your
ADVENTURE Library (MAIN MENU #1), the .ADV or, ADVENTURE
file will be there, all ready-to-fly. Just tag the one you
want and "go-flyin'."
CREATING FROM SCRATCH (MENU ITEM #3)
If you read about scenerios in newsletters and want to enter
the data by hand, you can CREATE a new adventure from
scratch for printing, etc. This feature is rarely used
because the .MOD file necessary to fly the scenerio must
still be created by using Flight Simulator and you will
still have to create the MODE from scratch when you load up
FS III. FS-PRO is automatic when you CREATE adventures from
your own MODE files.
ADDITIONAL HELP
Select the UTILITIES menu and then select the HELP module
for more information about particular subjects. And, the
documentation is always being updated. So, even if this is
an update for you, please glance through the docs if you
have difficulty.
Good Luck! Please, register your copy for $2.00 if you
haven't done so already. Get the silent version, newsletters
and VOICE support.
