The Sound of Music Bulletin Board System
516-536-8723
EGA and Video Conference
presents the Color RLE Door
______________________________________________________________________________
Enclosed within this package are two seperate programs for running Color Rle's
from the Sound of Music BBS EGA and Video Conference. C-RLE.COM is the
memory resident program that is needed for downloading COLOR RLEs from the
conference. CRLE.EXE is the program which runs locally on your system to
view the Color RLEs which you have already downloaded from the BBS.
______________________________________________________________________________
C-RLE.COM is a memory resident program that will allow the user to display RLE
pictures as they are encountered. The RLE may be viewed on line from the
BBS or offline by TYPING the file from DOS. C-RLE.COM will read both standard
and color RLE files. Invoke C-RLE.COM by typing C-RLE <RETURN>. Depending on
the type of MS-DOS computer you are using, you may or may not have to remove
your ANSI.SYS from your Boot Disk. Or make the changes listed below to your
existing ANSI.SYS to correct for this problem.
CRLE.EXE is included in the package so that when viewing Color Rles you do
not need to have a memory resident program loaded into your system. CRLE.EXE
also does not require the removal of ANSI.SYS in your config.sys files
TYPE CRLE at the DOS prompt and the program will prompt you for the name
of the Color RLE which you wish to display. This program is to be used
strictly offline and does not support the COM ports.
We are currently working on the additional logic to incorporate the full
16 colors.

Patch which may be necessary for ANSI.SYS when running C-RLE.COM
The following is a patch for ANSI.SYS that is included with IBM DOS
Version 2.10. This patch will enable RLE pictures to be viewed using
the TYPE command from the DOS command prompt. This also enables them to
be viewed on-line without setting up an ASCII capture buffer.
C>DEBUG ANSI.SYS <RETURN>
-E 04E2 E8 68 02 <RETURN>
-E 0742 C7 47 0E 60 07 <RETURN>
-E 074D 81 3E FD 00 47 03 75 07 50 B0 1B <RETURN>
-E 0758 E8 C0 FA 58 E8 BC FA C3 <RETURN>
-W <RETURN>

The following is the patch for ANSI.SYS that is included with IBM DOS
Version 3.10.
C>DEBUG ANSI.SYS <RETURN>
-E 04EC E8 84 02 <RETURN>
-E 0768 C7 47 0E 86 07 <RETURN>

-R CX <RETURN>

Again, the above patches to your ANSI.SYS may or may not be necessary when
using C-RLE.COM. Further enhancements of the program will become available
on the Sound of Music BBS as they are developed. Before attempting to
debug your ANSI.SYS be sure to make a copy of the program to another
diskette for backup purposes. Modified ANSI.SYS is not included in this
package since the program is copy-righted by IBM Systems.
If you find that there are further enhancements needed for this program or
that the program does not function on your system, please leave a public
message to Tom Morgan or the sysop in the EGA and Video Conference of the
Sound of Music BBS at 516-536-8723.
Future plans for C-RLE.COM include the lack of need to patch ansi.sys on
your system. Updates for this program will be released as soon as possible.
If you find this program informative and helpful visit the Video Conference
and support the Sound of Music BBS.
This program is copy-righted by Tom Morgan of Micro-Technologies, Inc. and
released by Micro-Technologies for distribution on the Sound of Music BBS.
