  2.     Here is the new Version 2.8 release of TimeSaver, MicroCon's graphic
  3.     schedule manager. For the many (understatement) individuals who chose
  4.     to respond to my last "README" file comments about Shareware, let me
  5.     express my appreciation. I am what you may call a "born again" (pardon
  6.     the pun) Shareware supporter and contributer. While my intention was
  7.     not to extort or shame users into registration, for whatever reason,
  8.     the registration count has picked up. In our particular case, we are
  9.     satisfied with the return on investment that the Shareware concept has
  10.     provided, but, again let me emphasize that that "return", in our unique
  11.     situation, is not measured in the number of registrations. I will still
  12.     caution programmers who are planning to distribute their programs to
  13.     carefully evaluate all their options before releasing the product on
  14.     the Shareware network. I also acknowledge that some individuals have
  15.     made considerable sums of money with Shareware, however, I still argue
  16.     that they represent a small percentage of contributers. The bottom line
  17.     is that if the program is useful, unique, and well written, and if it
  18.     is frequently updated, some registrations will result. If you are not
  19.     planning to make big bucks, and just want to share the program, you
  20.     will at least get some incentive for your efforts. With those comments
  21.     let me vacate the soapbox and get back to what I enjoy, writing and
  22.     enhancing software. Again thanks for all the feedback. It has given
  23.     me a different prospective on the issue.

  25.     With this version, I was forced to change the file format slightly, so
  26.     calendars created and maintained by previous releases will need to be
  27.     converted before they can be used. I have tried to make this as easy
  28.     and painless as possible by providing a command line parameter which
  29.     should be used the first time the new version is run. See the file
  30.     "TS.ADD" included with this version for an explanation of this and
  31.     other enhancments.

  33.     Briefly, the enhancements of version 2.8 include:
  34.  
  35.      - the capability to tag "whole day" events such as "VACATION",
  36.        "HOLIDAY", or "TRAVEL".
  37.  
  38.      - visual display of the graphics block when adding an appointment.
  39.  
  40.      - ability to create "templates" for use in Info files and to
  41.        modify the filename of an edited Info file before saving.
  42.  
  43.      - automatic detection of color/mono equipment.
  44.  
  45.      - ability to access different TS files on floppies or in hard disk
  46.        sub-directories.
  47.  
  48.      - ability to invoke program to initialize on any date.
  49.  
  50.      - Info files no longer limited to 10K bytes.
  51.  
  52.      - more efficient handling of data and Info files.
