This is a set of dBase III files for an inventory of videotape listings.
For fast performance, copy all the files to a RAMdisk or harddisk, then
type do c:tapes at the initial dot prompt in dBase to get the main menu.
If you can't or don't want to use drive c: you need to change the Set
Default line in the TAPES.PRG file to some other drive. Be sure all of
these videotape files are in the same directory.
A short sample DBF file of some titles is provided for you to work with.
The main program file TAPES.PRG puts a menu on the screen and you can
then select various options, including adding new titles, deleting a title,
or generating various screen or printed reports. The delete option
requires typing only the first few characters of the title rather than
the complete title. The title ( or titles, if the characters aren't
unique ) is displayed with a y/n option as to whether this title should
be deleted.
All programs, including the .DBF file can be modified, but if you modify
the fields in the .DBF file you'll have to change the report form and
format fields accordingly to agree.
A more extensive version of this program would allow you to search for
particular titles, change information about a record, and do other
various sorts. These can all be accomplished with dBase commands,
and the main menu screen is pretty full as it is.
Trust this may be of some use to other tv tape buffs!
