  34. BRIEF SUMMARY OF EVENTS
  35. -----------------------

  37.      The largest flare in several days erupted today from Region 6824
  38. (S20W21).  The high level C-class flare was rated a class C9.4/1N event at
  39. 14:28 UT.  This region has been rapidly decaying over the last 24 hours and
  40. will soon be incapable of producing anything more significant than simple
  41. subflares.
  42.  
  43.      Region 6834 (N09E27) was the only new region numbered today.  All of the
  44. other regions presently visible were dormant.
  45.  
  46.      Flare activity will remain low.  There are not expected to be any
  47. M-class flares from any of the regions presently visible.
  48.  
  49.      Geomagnetic activity was quiet to unsettled today.  The field is
  50. expected to remain mostly quiet to unsettled for the next 48 hours at least.
  51.  
  52.      Auroral activity has been very dormant.  Only a few high latitude
  53. locations have reported any visible diffuse aurorae.
  54.  
  55.      HF propagation conditions were good to very good from the equatorial to
  56. the middle latitude regions.  Conditions have been near normal (fair to good)
  57. over the high latitude regions.  All regions equatorward of the high
  58. latitudes will continue to experience normal to above normal propagation
  59. conditions.  High and polar latitudes will observe slightly better
  60. propagation conditions over the next 48 hours as residual geomagnetic
  61. activity diminishes.
